While Kosovo legally restricts hair transplants, botox, and fillers to specialized doctors only, in Albania, estheticians continue to offer these procedures without a license and without supervision.
Kosovo has taken new measures to control cosmetic procedures, clearly defining who can perform these procedures. According to the official announcement of the Ministry of Health, only licensed institutions and medically qualified professionals can offer treatments such as hair transplantation, botox, fillers and other cosmetic procedures. These services can only be performed by specialists in the following fields:
Plastic surgery
Dermatology
Maxillofacial surgery
ENT (ear, nose, throat)
Unlike Kosovo, in Albania the aesthetics market has become an "open field".
Aesthetic centers have increased significantly, often without a license and without supervision by health authorities. Many girls who have only attended short cosmetic courses dare to perform Botox or filler injections, seriously endangering the health and appearance of the girls who trust them. Dermatologists warn that such interventions performed by unauthorized persons can cause infections, tissue damage and facial deformities.
With these new measures, Kosovo is demonstrating a responsible and professional approach to protecting citizens from the dangers of uncontrolled cosmetic procedures. On the other hand, Albania lags behind in controlling and licensing this rapidly growing industry.
