The Greek government is preparing a new plan aimed at protecting minors online, banning access to social networks for children under the age of 15. It is also expected to block access by young people under 18 to online betting platforms and the purchase of tobacco products over the internet.
Government sources told the Greek media outlet "Protothema" that Greece plans to be ready by the end of October to implement these measures, thus becoming the first country in Europe to impose such restrictions on the use of social networks by minors.
A similar decision was recently made by Australia, where, as of October 10, access to social networks for children under 16 and online dating platforms has been banned, with the aim of protecting them from logarithmic manipulation and online sexual harassment.
