Albanian immigrant in Greece, Pano Ruçi, who lost his son in the tragic accident, has been on a hunger strike for 17 days, refusing to undergo laboratory tests to check his health. According to Greek media, emergency services are on standby and rescue teams are monitoring his condition, but he refuses to undergo laboratory tests.
“Since the start of the hunger strike in Syntagma, EKAB has ensured its operational readiness with a constant presence of ambulance teams or motorcycles of the Immediate Intervention Team, as is also foreseen for the center of Athens.
EKAB rescuers monitor the hunger striker's health condition daily and at regular intervals by checking his vital signs and clinical appearance, constantly emphasizing the necessity of regular medical and laboratory check-ups to ensure his health. However, to date he has refused to undergo such tests, which makes it even more difficult to monitor and prepare for his immediate and safe transfer to hospital, should this become necessary.
