
The German Embassy in Tirana announced that Germany will support around 400 families affected by the floods of recent weeks in Albania, with financial assistance of 250,000 pounds.
According to the announcement, these funds will be managed through the NGO World Vision UK and will go to families in the most affected regions, including Durrës (Sukth, Katund i Ri, Kënetë, Rrashbull, Porto Romano, Shkozet and Nishtulla), supporting around 1,800 people.
“Following the severe flooding of recent weeks, the Start Fund, supported by Germany, is making £250,000 immediately available to the NGO World Vision UK. This will support approximately 400 families (around 1,800 people) in the most affected regions of Albania – including Durrës (Sukth, Katund i Ri, Kënetë, Rrashbull, Porto Romano as well as Shkozeti, Nishtulla).
The Embassy also underlines the importance of supporting early warning systems, through GIZ's ALBAdapt project, which aims to better predict extreme weather events and help communities take preventive measures in the future.
"Following the severe floods of recent weeks, the Start Fund, supported by Germany, is providing this emergency assistance to improve the situation of the most affected families," the announcement says.
