
The population in northern Albania is more at risk of falling into poverty than the rest of the country.
The data is released by Eurostat, according to which 24.2% of the population is at risk of poverty.
After the north, Eurostat ranks the central area with 19.8% of the population at risk of falling into poverty, and then comes the southern region with 18.4%.
According to Eurostat data, the population at risk of poverty in Albania is higher than the European average. More specifically, in the north the European average is exceeded by 8%, in the center by 3.6% and in the south by 2.2%.
In 2024, 16.2% of people in the European Union, or 72.1 million people, were at risk of poverty. The same percentage as in 2023.
The highest percentages were found in the most remote region of France, Guyana, where more than half (53.3%) of people were at risk of poverty, followed by Ciudad de Melilla (41.4%) in Spain and Calabria (37.2%) in Italy.
