Iranian media reports that the United States has carried out another airstrike near Qeshm Island, near the Strait of Hormuz, further increasing tensions between Tehran and Washington.
According to the Iranian Mehr news agency, which cited local officials, the shells hit areas near the island at around 6:10 p.m. local time.
So far, no information has been released about casualties or material damage, while US authorities have not yet reacted to reports of the alleged attack.
Clashes between the US and Iran have intensified in recent days, particularly in the strategic Strait of Hormuz, despite a Pakistan-brokered memorandum of understanding aimed at reducing tensions and creating the conditions for a lasting peace agreement.
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world's most important maritime corridors for oil transportation, while any incident in this area raises concerns about security and stability in the Middle East.
