The Albanian student protest in Skopje, where thousands of young people gathered to demand the use of the Albanian language in the bar exam in North Macedonia, has ended. Students from Kosovo and Albania also joined the protest.
During the march in the capital of North Macedonia, protesters demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski and Justice Minister Igor Filkov. They chanted nationalist slogans such as “Oh, how blessed we were to be Albanians” and “The Albanian language is a gift,” while also singing the National Anthem.
After the protest ended, according to statements made to citizens and students gathered in front of the Ministry of Justice in Skopje, five students were arrested.
"We are protesting peacefully, we are being provoked on the road. Dear police, you must protect us too," declared a student to the crowd.
Albanian students are demanding that the jurisprudence exam be made available in the Albanian language, considering this a fundamental right.
