Kosovo's Deputy Minister of Finance, Hysni Mehani, also the chairman of the Vetëvendosje Movement in Skënderaj, was raped this Thursday while he was in a cafe in the city center.
In an official reaction, Vetëvendosje stated that the attack on Mehani was carried out by the mayor of Skënderaj, Sami Lushtaku, together with his bodyguards.
According to the party's response, the incident occurred at the "Solo" cafeteria, where Mehani was drinking coffee together with MP Arjeta Fejza and several Vetëvendosje activists.
Vetëvendosje claims that Mehani was first punched and then hit in the head with a glass. Also, according to the party, the secretary of the LVV center in Skënderaj, Bahri Zabeli, was physically attacked while trying to avoid escalating the conflict.
The response states that Mehani received medical treatment after the incident.
"This bandit physical attack clearly shows why these people have no place in the leadership of central and local public institutions," the Vetëvendosje statement says.
The party has requested that the competent authorities handle the case urgently and take legal measures against those responsible, while it has also called on the Democratic Party of Kosovo to condemn the event.
