26 years ago, the massacre of Recak, Kosovo took place. Photos have captured the bodies of massacred Albanians and the endless pain felt by a non-Albanian, Ambassador William Walker, who, like many other international diplomats before him, could not remain silent.
His voice was among the voices that overturned the previous negative history. Subsequent events marked one of the most hopeful periods for Albanians in the Balkans: NATO launched attacks against Serbia and supported the liberation of the territory of Kosovo.
But Recak and the sacrifices of Albanian lives must not be forgotten. They must be respected.
