
Three hours before the close of voting in Kosovo, the CEC announces that citizen participation has reached 29%. Out of 1,999,204 citizens with the right to vote, 581,034 of them have exercised their civic right.
The process generally proceeded peacefully, with only one incident recorded at a polling station. In Zhegër, Gjilan Municipality, a voter went with his father to help and started a verbal altercation with other voters.
While several other problems with lack of electricity have been reported in 3 voting centers in the municipality of Skenderaj, 2 in the municipality of Malisheva and 2 other centers in Novo Brdo and Obiliq.
Earlier, President Vjosa Osmani and the leaders of political parties also voted. Osmani voted in Pristina and wished that the process would be conducted in a peaceful, orderly and democratic manner.
The Vetëvendosje Movement's candidate for prime minister, Albin Kurti, voted in Pristina at around 09:40. The leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Bedri Hamza, exercised his right to vote in South Mitrovica at around 10:00, calling for high citizen participation.
The Democratic League of Kosovo's candidate for prime minister, Lumir Abdixhiku, voted around 10:45 in Pristina. Meanwhile, the leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, voted around 09:00 in Gllogjan.
We recall that the parliamentary elections of February this year failed to produce a majority to form a new government, creating a political crisis that led to early elections.
