Greek police have finalized an operation to arrest six people suspected of the attempted murder of Greek mafia figure Jani Lala, an incident that occurred on May 16, 2025 in Ano Liosia. Among those arrested is 45-year-old Albanian Dhimiter Meci, from Labova e Poshtme, known in Greece as "Dhimo" and considered by the authorities to be a hitman.
The operation, conducted by special structures of the Greek police, led to the arrest of three Albanians and two other Greeks, including a woman. During the search, various weapons, pistols, ammunition and quantities of cocaine were seized.
The suspects are accused of shooting around 40 times at Jani Lala's armored car, who then survived, while a month ago he was killed in Arahova in an incident that has now been solved by the police.
Meci has a long criminal history in Greece, involved in murder, attempted murder, robbery and organized criminal activity. He has been arrested several times over the years, but has often been released under unclear circumstances.
