Farmers' protests in Greece are escalating day by day, with numerous blockades on main roads, highways and customs points across the country. As mobilizations continue to grow, attention is focused on the Panhellenic Committee meeting next week, where a strategy and demands for concrete solutions are expected to be defined.
Numerous blockades have been recorded in Thessaly, Central Greece and Achaia, while according to farmers, even more radical actions—such as blocking ports and customs—are under consideration. The international axis Kakavija-Ioannina remains blocked, allowing only emergency movements and medical emergencies.
Farmers declare that they demand urgent measures and emphasize that they do not accept formal dialogue without tangible results. On the other hand, the government warns of strong measures against aggressive actions and clashes with the police, which have appeared during attempts to block access to the airports.
Tensions have increased particularly in the north of the country. In Thessaloniki, farmers tried to break through the police cordon to advance towards the Macedonia airport junction, causing incidents near the green traffic light. Blockades have also been set up in Thermi, Serres, Komotini and Kouloura, cutting off important parts of the Egnatia Motorway.
The Athens-Thessaloniki National Road remains closed at the Nikaias junction in Larisa, where over 4,000 tractors are parked. Similar situations are reported in Kardita, Trikala and along the E65 highway. Farmer representatives in Thessaly are expected to meet on Sunday to decide on the next steps, while the closure of customs and a large protest to block the port of Volos during the week have also been decided.
Blockades have also been erected in Achaia, while traffic disruptions have been noted at the Kipi, Exochi, Promachona, Evzoni, Niki customs and at the Kalpaki intersection that leads to the Kakavija customs.
A critical situation is also present in the northeast of the country, where around 500 trucks have remained blocked on the old Alexandroupolis-Ormeni National Road and near Provatona on the vertical axis of the Egnatia Highway.
Meanwhile, the protest has also spread to the island of Lesbos, where farmers poured milk into the streets as a symbolic form of revolt against current policies.
