The Secretary General of the Democratic Party, Flamur Noka, has issued a public clarification regarding the removal of two councilors from the Democratic Party group in the Municipality of Durrës, stating that the decision was made at the request of the local branch of the party.
In his reaction, Noka emphasizes that "the two advisors of the DP group in the Durrës Municipality have left the group of advisors and local DP structures at the request of the Durrës DP Branch, which had filed this request some time ago."
According to him, one of them, Arlind Boshku, "has been proven to have worked for the Socialist Party in the elections of May 11, 2025." But Noka's statement does not list any concrete facts for this accusation. Mr. Noka has simply proven it to the best of his knowledge.
The other councilor, Dritan Burgija, according to Noka, "has exploited the position of DP councilor for personal benefits from the Municipality and, according to the report of the Durrës DP Branch, has worked for the SP."
But here a simple question arises: does Mr. Noka not know that personal gains in politics are a phenomenon not so unknown to the Democratic Party?
It is enough to look at the businesses of MPs or their families to understand that these years have not been that difficult in the "regime" of Edi Rama. The construction permits of the Sali Berisha family or of any English-speaking MP are a sufficient reminder that business (especially construction) has not been in such a mess.
But there seems to be an unwritten rule: benefits are not a problem when they remain in the hands of the big leadership. The problem arises only when some ordinary democrat tries to benefit from local government. At that moment he is immediately declared an enemy within.
