The head of the DP parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, has criticized EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos, following an interview she gave in Politico, where, according to him, she made Albanian society co-responsible for corruption in the country.
In his reaction, Bardhi considers such a generalization unacceptable and addresses the commissioner, emphasizing that Albanians do not accept corruption and that the responsibility for it, according to him, lies personally with Prime Minister Edi Rama.
"Albanian society does not accept corruption, Albanians are not corrupt. The responsibility for corruption and its acceptance and protection lies solely with Edi Rama," says Bardhi.
He adds that cases of corruption in the government have not been defended by citizens, but according to him, by the Prime Minister and the majority MPs in the Assembly.
Bardhi also accuses that obstacles to the fight against corruption do not come from Albanian society, but from political interference in investigations.
At the end of the reaction, the leader of the democratic group asks European institutions to distance themselves from any generalization that, according to him, harms Albanian society, which he describes as one of the most pro-European in the world.
