The Democratic Party has expelled the group's chairman, Dritan Burgija, and councilor Arlind Boshku from its group of councilors in the Municipality of Durrës.
The reason for this decision was the support they gave to the movement of former MP Ervin Salianji, who is seeking reform of the leadership structures of the blue headquarters.
According to the official decision, the expulsion was made "in accordance with the party's statute and internal regulations", for "violation of provisions related to ethics and integrity".
In the document titled "On the changes in the group of DPA advisors in the Durrës Municipal Council", it is emphasized that the decision is based on articles 24, 40 and 48 of the DPA statute, as well as the Code of Conduct and the law "On Local Self-Government".
The decision also proposes the appointment of Ardian Muka as candidate for the new chairman of the group of democratic councilors in the Durrës Municipal Council.
Burgija and Boshku have come out in support of former MP Ervin Salianji at a time when discussions are taking place within the Democratic Party about its leadership, while the date of the race for party leadership has been set for May 23.
The decision is dated March 23, 2026 and was signed by the Secretary General of the Democratic Party, Flamur Noka.
