The absence of Elisa Spiropali in the parliamentary session where Belinda Balluku's immunity was voted on seems to have opened a debate within the ranks of the Socialist Party.
Spiropali did not participate in that session, although the socialist parliamentary group had previously taken a political decision on the voting method. After this situation, the chairman of the parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, declared that he would not make the decision on this issue alone and that he would convene the parliamentary group for a discussion.
Spiropali's reaction came publicly and directly. She wrote to Balla that she agreed to discuss the issue in the group and invited him to call a meeting without delay.
"Taulant, I belatedly read your public statement. I completely agree. If the issue requires consultation with the parliamentary group, then that is exactly what should be done without delay. Call the group and let's have a full discussion," Spiropali writes.
In her message, she emphasizes that collective decision-making is the strength of the parliamentary group and the guarantee of political legitimacy, adding that every position that emerges from an open discussion deserves respect.
The debate comes after Prime Minister Edi Rama appears to have left responsibility for this issue to Balla, while it is now awaited whether the socialist parliamentary group will meet to discuss Spiropal's absence from the vote for Balluk.
