Vangjush Dako continues to remain in the Durrës regional hospital even though he must return to his cell after the decision of the Special Appeals Court that sentenced him to 2 years and eight months in prison for abuse of office.
The Prison Forces have taken him into custody, after doctors declared that due to heart problems he should remain in the hospital. Dako spent 6 months in detention and 13 months under house arrest, but when the Appeals Court sentenced him, he suddenly suffered heart problems.
The former mayor will likely serve his sentence, which ends on September 27th, in the hospital and then must give a statement to the police after an explosive device was placed in the hotel he owns, which, according to investigators, was a threatening message to Dako himself.
