Do you remember the primaries? The process that would decide the candidacies for DP deputies? Now that some time has passed, not everyone remembers the great debate that took place in the DP, the names on the closed list and the degradation of the primaries process that was trumpeted loudly by Sali Berisha. One of the greatest shames of this process was the Tirana list, filled with names without any weight but where the names of allied parties prevailed. The Freedom Party, Republican Party or PDIU, which included Mesila Doda in the closed list of the Tirana DP. Which not long ago decided not to be part of any of the opposition parliamentary groups, but to remain independent. In other words, independent of the opposition and dependent on some other interest greater than being in the opposition. Of this opposition that sacrificed the winners of its primaries to make room for Shpëtim Idrizi's candidate. Whose party, with him at the helm, received a full 1,786 votes in Tirana in the parliamentary elections of May 11.
By appointing Mesila as an independent, Sali Berisha left out Ilir Alimehmet, Jorida Tabaku or Hysen Kadiu from the safe list. The winner of the primaries today, as he sees Mesila Doda as a self-proclaimed independent MP, can rightly ask: how many times does the DP need to elect Mesila as an MP on a closed list to realize that her past and current mandates are simply part of a small political bargain?
