A few days after VNA reported that Vilma Premti was expected to replace Vali Bizhga as Prime Minister Edi Rama's chief of staff, developments have taken a different turn. At today's government meeting, Premti was appointed Deputy Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs.
The reasons for the sudden change are not yet known, while there are rumors of a rejection that Edi Rama made to Vali Bizhga's proposal to leave Vilma Premti in the position of chief of staff.
However, Premti has not been left without a post, rejoining her former boss, Elisa Spiropali, now in the position of Deputy Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs. We recall that previously Vilma Premti was Elisa Spiropali's chief of staff. She then served as chief of staff of Holta Zaçaj, the president of the Constitutional Court.
Meanwhile, Vali Bizhga continues to hold her position as the Prime Minister's cabinet director, despite rumors of a possible resignation that circulated a few weeks ago. Bizhga is one of Rama's closest associates, with a long career in administration dating back to when he headed the Municipality of Tirana. Known for her low public profile, she is considered one of the key figures in his close staff.
