Ermal Hasimja, one of the names rumored as a possible opposition candidate for the Tirana Municipality race, says that the challenge for Tirana is difficult and that anyone who enters this race will not have the right time to prepare. "The situation is difficult, anyone who enters the race will be unprepared. The situation is unexpected, today the president decreed the elections. Time is short, this does not depend on me, nor on anyone else," he said.
Focusing on the internal debate on the typology of the opposition candidate, Hasimja said that this is an open discussion: "That discussion of whether we need a strong political figure – who could be from the DP of course, or from the Opportunity Party – or a non-political public figure, is still present. There are cases in the region and in Europe where such models have worked."
He cited similar experiences in other European cities as an example: "I understand the studio stays. There are many cases not far from Albania, where candidates of this type have succeeded, such as in Bucharest or Budapest. It's not that there aren't other examples."
