Coming around in a ridiculous way, the DP has not yet realized that it is too late for the elections decreed for November 9 in Tirana.
After holding dozens of protests to remove Erion Velina from office and failing to even honk their horns and burn tires, luck shone on him and Veliaj was dismissed by a decision of the municipal council and signed by Edi Rama. It was the DP councilors themselves who triumphantly joined the votes with the socialists and buried Veliaj's mandate as mayor. After this, today the president decreed the date of the expected elections for a vacancy that the DP itself voted for a week ago. But this time Gazment Bardhi is against it and sees a Rama-Begaj conspiracy against the constitution. Now, without being good lawyers, the logical question that arises is: did the DP know that the dismissal of Veliaj from the municipal council was with legal problems? And if it knew, why did it vote for it? Because after the vote and dismissal, no normal mind thinks that the place will remain empty. Elections are an inevitable process when you vote for the removal of the mayor. Or maybe the DP thinks that the president would wait until the trio of Noga, Alimehmeti and Këlliçi found the winning candidate?
That the DP has lost its political compass and is behaving like a military garrison under Berisha's orders is no longer a surprise. But at least someone should use their logic and think that when you vote for Veliaj's removal, you automatically voted for new elections in Tirana. And more than dealing with the nitty-gritty of laws, you should look for and find a candidate. Or wait for the doctor to return from abroad and tell you who he has appointed. This would relieve the negotiating trio of responsibility and fatigue that has not yet realized that Sali Berisha has found his name and is simply playing the usual game of internal democracy in the DP.
