The chairman of the "Together Movement" party, Arlind Qori, and the chairman of the "Opportunity" party, Agron Shehaj, have categorically ruled out any political cooperation with the Democratic Party led by Sali Berisha, emphasizing that there are deep moral, political and programmatic differences.
In a connection with the show "The Unexposed" on MCN TV, Arlind Qori commented on the initiative launched by Ermal Hasimja to create a joint opposition bloc, describing it as unacceptable for the "Joint Movement".
According to Qori, cooperation with the DP and other traditional opposition parties is impossible due to what he called “deep moral incompatibility”, starting with the figure of Sali Berisha. He stressed that the “Together Movement” is against corruption and cannot share a political platform with parties or figures who, according to him, are involved in or accused of corruption.
Qori stated that it would be absurd for such political forces to come together in protests, while some of them demand the release of figures like Sali Berisha or Ilir Meta. “My position is that they should all be in prison,” he said, adding that there can be no joint political action with parties that defend individuals who, according to him, should face justice.
He also accused both the Democratic Party and the Socialist Party of lacking real opposition between them and of having common interests, especially in the efforts to weaken the justice reform. Qori underlined that the “Together Movement” has clear positions against the oligarchy, against the sale of national assets such as Sazani and Zvërnec, as well as against the refugee camps built by the Italian government in Albania, which according to him violate the country’s sovereignty.
"There is no other party in Albania today that raises these issues with the same standard as us," declared Qori, concluding that the "Together Movement" will not be part of any coalition that includes the old parties.
On the same show, the chairman of the "Mundësia" party, Agron Shehaj, also denied any possibility of merging with Sali Berisha's DP. He stressed that he left the Democratic Party precisely because of the deep problems it has and that, according to him, nothing has changed since then.
Shehaj explained that the initiative to bring a candidate outside the political parties, as in the case of Ermal Hasime, was aimed at creating a credible alternative for opposition voters and not at uniting with traditional parties. He emphasized that “Mundësia” was voted for by about 50 thousand citizens precisely because it took a clear stance against Berisha and the old parties.
Shehaj spoke out against the idea of a technical government and emphasized that changes to the Electoral Code or the guarantee of free elections do not depend on the opposition, as the Socialist Party has the majority of votes in Parliament.
"This union makes no sense," Shehaj concluded, emphasizing that the split with the DP remains essential and unchanged.
