Endri Shabani was elected Ombudsman with 85 votes in favor and 3 against in the Assembly, among six candidates in the race. The process was accompanied by debates, while the opposition abandoned the session, accusing the majority of "political bargaining".
Despite the fact that opposition MPs had submitted 316 supporting signatures for 6 candidates, they claimed that the signatures did not necessarily constitute an official proposal, requesting a reopening of the process and recollection of signatures for only two names: Adriana Kalaja and Besim Ndregjoni.
The debate escalated with accusations and irony between the parties, leading to the adjournment of the session.
In the end, Shabani was voted in with the support of the majority and the signatures of the opposition.
