Adriatik Lapaj has come out against the agreement between opposition parties to propose a joint candidate in the early elections for 6 municipalities.
Lapaj stated that his party is ready to support an independent candidate, or if this is not achieved, he will run with a name from his party.
"I will not oppose it on principle. I do not want to be the one to spoil the party. The way it is being proceeded is not right. We are talking about the largest city in the country. The truth is that it is at this point because the system has prevented the production of elites. To achieve such a candidate, it is not possible to seat Adriatik at the table twice or someone else. Do you want to know how we join in this story? I did not say that we expected someone to come out and declare to run as an independent and seek the support of this party or that. I cannot be a hypocrite. We are open to supporting an independent candidate. But we will not enter into a party agreement with other parties," said Lapaj.
He also commented on one of the possible names to run as an opposition representative, Edlira Cepanin, who was one of the founders of the "Albania Becomes" party.
Lapaj, despite speaking out against uniting with opposition parties, emphasized that the only name he would support from the opposition agreement would be that of Çepan.
