Former Democratic Party MP Qani Xhafa has rejected the statement of the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, regarding his participation in the Ervin Salianj meeting, held yesterday in Elbasan. Berisha had stated that the meeting was sponsored by crime and that the participants were forced to attend by exponents of the criminal world, including Suel Çela.
Xhafa has categorically denied these accusations, emphasizing that neither he nor the members of the Democratic Party of Elbasan Branch were subjected to any pressure to participate in the event. On the contrary, the former MP indicated that many Democrats were dissatisfied with the lack of information regarding the meeting and had demanded an account of why they were not invited.
In his response, Xhafa explains that he had been a participant in the meeting as a democrat since 2005 and that the decision to participate was free and conscious. He emphasized that his goal was to contribute to the resurgence of the activity of the Democratic Party, which, according to him, after the elections of May 11, 2025, is in a state of "lethargy."
Xhafa also addressed Berisha, asking for concrete facts if his claims about the meeting with Suel Çela are true, adding that otherwise, the participation of young people should be allowed to build the future of the DP. He announced that the meeting also discussed the December 22 protest and the importance of mobilizing the democrats to challenge the current government.

Clarification for public opinion regarding Mr. Ervin Salianji's meeting in Elbasan on December 16th at 6:00 PM!
Honorable democrats, members, sympathizers of the Democratic Party and the entire public opinion, I would like to inform you that yesterday I was part of the meeting with the Democrats of the Elbasan District, as a democrat since 2005, where we shared with them the good and the bad of this political force!
I was not forced by anyone to participate in this meeting, but I found it reasonable that for several months after the elections of May 11, 2025, the DP fell into a lethargic sleep that was damaging it even more!
Likewise, find me a party member, sympathizer or whatever, who was or was not at the meeting, to declare that they were forced by someone to participate, even to cheer!
I would like to inform you that many Democrats were angry with me for not informing them, but the time was very short, only two days, and we left the participation to chance. In my opinion, it was a very good meeting, as there were many young Democrats in the leadership forums who are the future of the DP!
For the very profession I have as a mechanical engineer, I tell Dr. Berisha, if he convinces me with facts that that meeting was made by Suel Çela, I will be the first to withdraw, if the opposite is true, the young people must move forward to defeat the regime of Edi Rama!
At that meeting, among other things, they talked about the December 22 protest, which should be as powerful as possible to overthrow this government!
