Opposition-backed candidate Florin Binaj reacted to the Constitutional Court's decision to remove Mayor Erion Veliaj from office and cancel the race for Tirana Mayor. He stressed that he will run whenever elections are held and that his commitment is to the city and its citizens, not to power.
Binaj thanked the citizens for their support and trust, emphasizing that his journey continues. The Constitutional Court's decision overturned the President's decree and the Council of Ministers' decision. This means that until the next elections, Veliaj remains in office.
Florin Binaj's reaction:
For me and for the citizens of Tirana, the essence remains the same: Tirana needs change.
I will run for mayor of Tirana whenever elections are held with the same conviction, dedication, and energy to serve the people with honesty, accountability, and transparency.
This is not a race for power, but an effort for our city, to make it the home we want to leave to our children.
The support, encouragement, and trust that thousands of citizens have given me these days have convinced me that together we will succeed. Our journey continues.
Nothing will stop the change that the citizens of Tirana want.
