His term as head of the Democratic Party ends in April next year, but Sali Berisha has made it clear that he will not withdraw from the race to lead the party.
Asked on the show "Opinion" if he would run for another term, Berisha emphatically stated that he would run again. "There is no retreat from Sali Berisha in the face of the farce. I will absolutely run again," he said.
Responding to Blendi Fevziu's question about the possibility of the DP being led by a younger representative, while he remained as honorary chairman or supervisor, Berisha ruled out this scenario: "The party does not function with a supervisor, it functions with a leader."
The elections within the DP in 2026 take place at a critical moment for the Albanian opposition, amid internal debates over leadership and the political direction the party should follow.
