The Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime has left in force the security measure "prison arrest" for Erion Veliaj.
The decision was taken today, on February 24, 2026, by the monocratic panel composed of Judge Nertina Kosova, in reviewing the appeal against decision no. 118, dated 01.02.2026 of the Special Court of First Instance.
Veliaj had requested the replacement of the measure of “prison arrest”, provided for by Article 238 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, with a milder measure, such as “property guarantee” (Article 236) or “obligation to report to the judicial police” (Article 234).
The appeal ruled in favor of the first instance decision, rejecting the request for relief from the security measure.
The decision was announced in Tirana, on 24.02.2026.
