The problem today is no longer how to overthrow Edi Rama, but how to overthrow the system of state capture installed by Rama and Berisha. For a long time now, the rotation between them has brought no change, except for deterioration. They are now not only the same, but they are together, part of the same system, which they keep together, thus supporting each other. Today more than ever, the fate of each of the two is inextricably linked to the fate of the other. If one falls, both fall and neither of them can stand alone anymore.
This is actually happening. They are both being toppled, thanks to SPAK. He is narrowing Edi Rama's circle, cutting off his arms by imprisoning his close associates. Meanwhile, SPAK is simultaneously investigating Berisha and his people, giving the opposition a chance to escape capture and use for the interests of the system. In this way, SPAK is putting an end to the 35-year transition, toppling the two great pillars that keep this system afloat.
Berisha's protests don't really harm Edi Rama. On the contrary, they only help him, as they give him reason to say that it is not the people who are against him, but the blind militants of a force that cannot come to power with votes.
The only protests that are damaging this government are citizen, non-partisan protests. But even they cannot bring it down now. As long as it has Berisha in front of it, this government will not fall. First of all, the people are not coming to overthrow today's thief to bring back to power yesterday's thief, who was overthrown by the government with a million votes against; second, the internationals are not invested in a rotation that returns the country to where it was 13 years ago.
However, citizen protests have an important function in the overthrow of Rama and his system, including Berisha. These protests weaken him and expose him to SPAK. By standing up against Rama, citizens give legitimacy to the investigations, which pave the way for prosecutors to easily reach the head of government.
This is practically the reason why all the factors of the country's hostage-taking (politicians around Rama and Berisha, oligarchs and media representatives) savagely attack SPAK as if it were the greatest evil in this country. They know better than anyone that their death lies in its success, which is why they hate it so much. They would have closed it from day one if it were not for the insistence of the internationals that this prosecutor's office continue the mission it has begun.
For this reason, protests are the right medicine to defend the only hope this country has left for change. This is why I have taken to the streets and will continue to take to the streets, of course, not in the protests organized by Berisha, but in any other protest against this rotten government.
