Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has strongly criticized the way the European Union functions today, describing it as a structure overloaded with bureaucracy that, according to her, is hindering Europe's competitiveness and strategic development.
During his speech at the general assembly of Confindustria, Meloni stated that European institutions have continuously added rules and procedures to every aspect of economic and social life.
According to her, Europe has shown a lack of vision at times when it should have had a stronger role on the international stage. She also criticized the ideological and technocratic approach of European institutions, saying that the real needs of the economy and development have often been left in the background.
The Italian Prime Minister underlined that politics must regain the leading role in European decision-making, while the bureaucracy, according to her, should only implement political orientations and not take their place.
