A serious incident occurred this Tuesday in Shkodra prison, where Brendon Ronald Saporito, 57 years old, with American citizenship, was found hanging in his cell.
According to official data, Saporito was found still with signs of life by fellow sufferers and was urgently taken to the Koplik hospital, but despite the intervention of doctors, he did not survive.
The deceased was arrested on May 2, 2025 and was held in custody on the charge of "murder due to family relations", by decision of the Shkodra Court.
The incident was immediately reported to the authorities, while investigations are underway to clarify the full circumstances. The prison administration announces that it is cooperating with the Shkodra Prosecutor's Office and the Internal Control Service in Prisons to document the incident.

The institution's employees took him out with a pulse and signs of life to the emergency room, where the medical staff provided him with first aid. Despite the immediate intervention from the Koplik Hospital and the efforts of the medical staff, the detainee did not manage to survive.
Brendon Ronald Saporito, born on 22.04.1968, son of Joesph Binald Saporita and Marichea (Klein) Saporita, was in the Shkodra Penitentiary Institution due to the decision of the Shkodra First Instance Court, which had assigned him the security measure "Arrest in prison", suspected of the criminal offense "Murder due to family relations". He was arrested on 02.05.2025 and brought to the institution on 04.05.2025.
