SPAK requested a life sentence for Plarent Dervishaj, accused of organizing the November 1, 2019 assassination attempt on the Shkozet overpass, on the vehicle of former Durrës prosecutor Arjan Ndoj, where the latter and his friend Aleksandër Laho were injured, while the driver Andi Maloku was killed.
Julian Mecaj, considered Dervishaj's right-hand man, was sentenced to 35 years in prison. Dervishaj and Mecaj were tried separately from the other defendants, because they were arrested and then deported from Dubai. Redian Rraj, the nephew of former socialist MP Rrahman Rraja, was previously sentenced to life imprisonment as the executioner, while Ariol Halilaj was sentenced as an accomplice. The other defendants were sentenced to lighter sentences in separate trials.
