In the early hours of this morning, at the "Mother Teresa" University Hospital Center, high-security prisoner Mihal Pavllo Mërkuri, admitted to the Central Resuscitation, Surgery Pavilion, passed away.
"Death was the result of cardiac arrest and head hemorrhage," the prisons announced.
Mihal Mërkuri was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the criminal offenses of "attempted intentional murder" and "unauthorized production and possession of weapons and ammunition."
He was extradited from Greece on 20.06.2023 and transferred to the Burrel Penitentiary Institution on 15.02.2025, from the Korça Penitentiary Institution.
The deceased was admitted to the QSUT on 18.01.2026, at around 20:21, and underwent surgery due to internal hemorrhage (hemoperitoneum).
