The Morina border police have cracked down on an attempted smuggling of valuables. A 33-year-old resident of Germany has been arrested.
During a search of the young man's Audi car, the police report that they found and seized jewelry worth 50 thousand euros.

The Border Police Services at the Morina crossing point have cracked down on an attempted smuggling of valuables. As a result of continuous checks to prevent cross-border crimes, gold jewelry and a wristwatch, worth around 50,000 euros, as well as a vehicle, were seized.
During entry into the territory of the Republic of Albania, based on risk analysis and the selection of means for detailed control, the police services passed the "Audi" type vehicle, driven by citizen QS, to the second line.
Upon a thorough search, gold jewelry and a wristwatch were found in the vehicle, which the driver had not declared as required by law. The valuables and the vehicle were seized as material evidence.
At the conclusion of the procedural actions, the Crime Investigation specialists at the Kukës DVKM arrested in flagrante delicto the citizen QS, 33 years old, resident in Germany, for the criminal offenses of "Smuggling of other goods" and "Failure to declare money and valuables at the border".
The procedural materials have been referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Kukës, for further action.
