The Institution of the President of the Republic held this Wednesday the drawing of lots for the selection of members of the Judicial Appointments Council (JAC) for the year 2026. Fjona Papajorgji and Marjana Semini were elected permanent members of the JAC by the Constitutional Court, while Genti Ibrahimi was declared a substitute member. After the draw, Ilir Panda was elected a member of the Council and, according to the law, will be the chairman of the JAC for the year 2026, while Valbon Cekrezi was appointed a substitute member. From the General Prosecutor's Office, Alfred Progonati was elected a member of the Council, while Anila Leka was elected a substitute member. All members of the JAC will exercise their functions part-time for a one-year mandate starting on January 1, 2026.
