Activist Baki Goxhaj has filed a criminal complaint with SPAK against the Chief Rabbi of Albania, Yoel Kaplan. The complaint was made after several months of work by lawyers from the British organization International Centre of Justice for Palestinians (ICJP), in collaboration with a group of local lawyers.
According to the indictment, Kaplan is accused of physical involvement in the fighting in Gaza, of public propaganda in favor of genocide, and of recruiting Albanian citizens to fight in the ranks of Israeli forces.
He has been charged with several serious criminal offenses:
• Genocide (Article 73 of the Criminal Code)
• Crimes against humanity (Article 74)
• War crimes (Article 75)
• Incitement and propaganda for terrorist acts (Article 232/a)
• Organization for participation in hostilities in a foreign country (Article 265/b)
• Call for participation in violent hostilities in a foreign country (Article 265/c).
In his capacity as the representative of the ICJP in Albania, Goxhaj has called on the Albanian judiciary to treat the issue seriously and not be intimidated in the face of possible pressures.
