The daughter of the Albanian couple, in an interview with the Greek media, taxydromos.gr, the 18-year-old spoke with pain about the family drama she is experiencing, saying that she now feels like she has lost both of her parents.
"What he did to my mother, I will do to him. I will take revenge on him. I never want to look him in the eye again! But I will make sure to meet him, because I want to shame him. I no longer have a mother or a father. Just like my younger siblings. I will become both mother and father to them from now on. I will not tell my family's secret. I will keep it to myself. We know what we were going through. They envied my mother and us, her children. We were a family that they envied and admired. Now he has destroyed us," the 18-year-old said through tears.
Earlier, Greek media published footage from the moment of the arrest of Pandeli Nakolec, who murdered his wife with a cutting tool in front of their four children in Volos, Greece.
The perpetrator of the macabre crime was arrested this afternoon by Greek police. Footage published by protothema.gr shows police officers arresting the 40-year-old, who on Friday (22/8) killed his 36-year-old wife in front of their children and then fled.
According to Greek media reports, in his first words after his arrest, the 40-year-old appeared unrepentant. He told police officers:
"My wife was cheating on me, what should I do?"
According to what has been reported, the 40-year-old was found on Evripidou Street in the city center, approximately 200 meters from the house where the brutal crime took place.
He was hiding in a field, wearing clothes he found in a trash can. He had no cell phone or other belongings with him.
Murder in front of minor children
The crime took place yesterday morning (August 22) in the couple's apartment in the city of Volos, where Nakolec allegedly beat his wife to death with a kitchen utensil. The four children, aged between 6 and 18, were at home and witnessed the serious incident.
After the crime, the 40-year-old escaped. The crime occurred on "Konstanda" Street, while the suspected perpetrator is 40-year-old Albanian, Pandeli Nikoleci, who ran away after committing the macabre act.
The incident was discovered after the couple's terrified 16-year-old daughter called emergency services after seeing her mother bleeding at the entrance to the building. According to medical sources, the victim, identified as Marjola Nakoleci, died at the scene due to massive bleeding caused by a stab wound and cuts from the broken glass of the front door.
"I saw my dad stab my mom"
The gruesome testimony of the minor girl reinforces suspicions that the victim was first stabbed in the apartment and then followed by her husband up the stairs of the building. After reaching the entrance, he pushed her towards the glass door, causing fatal injuries from broken glass shards. The perpetrator then immediately left.
The girl told the media outlet gegonota.news that her parents often argued and that her mother had recently kicked her father out of the house. “I don’t know why they got into a fight today… My father was very jealous of my mother,” she added.
According to doctors at the city hospital, the 36-year-old's death came after severe trauma from falling onto broken glass.
"A calm, hardworking woman and devoted mother"
Residents of the apartment building where the couple had been living for several months are shocked. They describe the victim as a quiet, hardworking woman who was devoted to her children. She worked in a factory and was the breadwinner of the family.
The couple had four children, the eldest an 18-year-old daughter and the youngest a 6-year-old son.
Dark criminal past and mental problems
According to an official statement from the Greek police, the perpetrator has a charged criminal past and a history of mental health problems:
• 2013: Arrested for forging documents and illegal entry into Greece• 2018: Sentenced to 1 year in prison for false statements.• 2019: Arrested twice for drug possession.• 2020: Sentenced to 4.5 years in prison for participation in a criminal organization and drug trafficking.
In June of this year, Nakolec was admitted to a psychiatric clinic at Volos Hospital by order of the prosecutor, after he had attempted suicide. Doctors determined that he needed mandatory treatment and he remained hospitalized for some time./ Panorama
