United States President Donald Trump has announced a change to the US childhood vaccination schedule, stating that the number of recommended injections will be reduced from 72 to 11.
In a post on his social network Truth, Trump announced that his administration has approved an updated childhood vaccination plan, which he describes as based on the "highest scientific standards" and harmonized with the practices of other developed countries.
According to Trump, the new plan provides for vaccination only against 11 of the most serious and dangerous diseases, while parents will still have the option to choose full vaccination for their children, which will continue to be covered by health insurance.
He emphasizes that the purpose of this change is to unify US vaccination policies with those of other developed countries in the world.
“Today, the Trump Administration is proud to announce the updated Childhood Immunization Plan for the United States of America. This plan is rooted in the Gold Standard of Science and is widely accepted by Scientists and Experts around the world. Starting today, America will no longer need 72 “shots” for our beautiful, healthy children. We are moving to a much more sensible plan, where all children will be recommended to receive Vaccinations for only 11 of the most serious and dangerous diseases. Parents can still choose to give their children all Vaccinations, if they wish, and they will still be covered by insurance. However, this updated plan finally brings the United States into line with other developed countries around the world,” Trump wrote.
