Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has been transported from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, where he has been detained for the past two days on drug and weapons trafficking charges. He is expected to appear in a New York court for initial court proceedings.
According to the released footage, Maduro emerged from an armored vehicle, part of the convoy that was accompanying him, dressed in a brown detention uniform, and then headed towards a helicopter. Next to him, under strict security measures and accompanied by law enforcement, was a person suspected of being his wife.

Sources indicate that Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, are expected to appear before a court in New York today, while US authorities have not yet provided further details about the hearing or the measures that may be taken against them.
