Donald Trump appeared enthusiastic about the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, but also furious with NATO, which he called useless and said that "we never needed it."
"And now that the situation in the Strait of Hormuz is almost over, I got a call from NATO asking if we wanted any help. Thank you very much, NATO. I told them I would like your help two months ago, but now I really don't want it anymore, because they were completely useless when we needed them, although we don't need anyone else," the president said.
In his speech at an event in Phoenix and after several domestic policy issues, the US president addressed the issue of Iran and war, repeating much of what he has said in the past.
Regarding the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, Trump said it was "a great and bright day for the world," as the Strait is now "fully open and ready for business."
He stressed, however, that the naval blockade on Iran will remain in full force "until our agreement is 100% complete."
Trump also said that the negotiations “should move very quickly and that most of the points have already been negotiated and agreed upon.” On this issue, reality belies the US president’s narrative, as Tehran has denied his claims that the Iranian side has agreed to many of the points.
He reiterated that Iran's enriched uranium stockpile would be transferred to the United States. "We will go with Iran to recover the enriched uranium, we will bring it very quickly to the United States," he said.
But of course, he didn't forget what the president likes to repeat from time to time: "I've ended eight wars, and if we add Iran and Lebanon, it will be 10 wars that have ended."
