The speaker of Iran's parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, warned that his country could close the Strait of Hormuz if the US does not lift the blockade on Iranian ports.
In a reaction via the X platform, Ghalibaf accused US President Donald Trump of making false statements.
"The US President made seven claims in one hour and all seven were false. They did not win the war with these lies and they certainly will not achieve anything in the negotiations," he said.
The senior Iranian official stressed that the continuation of the blockade will have direct consequences on maritime traffic.
"With the continuation of the blockade, the Strait of Hormuz will not remain open," he warned, adding that passage through this strategic route can only be allowed according to a "defined corridor" and with Iran's approval.
Ghalibaf also stressed that the status of the Strait of Hormuz cannot be determined through statements on social media.
