"The latest attack, again linked to Italy's stance on the war in Iran, was negative." This is what US President Donald Trump declared, responding to Fox News journalist Maria Bartiromo (who was granted Italian citizenship by the government seven months ago), he explained that the relationship between him and Italy is no longer the same.
"Anyone who refused their help in managing the situation with Iran, we no longer have the same relationship with that country. Just so you know: Italy takes a huge amount of oil from the Strait," Trump said.
The Prime Minister's stance remains unchanged, with no direct response to the American president.
But some passages of her statements together with Volodymyr Zelensky, hosted at Palazzo Chigi, do not go unnoticed.
Zelensky confirmed that “Italy is always on Kiev’s side.” As when she stressed the importance of “the solidity of the Euro-Atlantic alliance, because a divided West, a divided Europe would be the only real gift we could give to Moscow.”
