An Iranian official has warned that the country could move to enriching uranium to the level needed for nuclear weapons if the United States launches new attacks on it.
Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesman for the National Security and Foreign Policy Bloc in the Iranian parliament, stated that one of the options being considered is enriching uranium to 90%. “One of Iran’s options in the event of another attack could be enrichment to 90%. We will consider it in parliament,” Rezaei said.
According to international standards, nuclear power plants operate with uranium enriched to 3-5%, while levels around 90% are considered suitable for military use.
