More than 376 Palestinians have been killed and over 980 injured in the Gaza Strip since October 10, when a ceasefire in the enclave came into effect, the Gaza Health Ministry announced in a statement on Monday.
The Gaza Health Ministry added that the total number of Palestinians killed in the Gaza Strip as a result of Israeli military operations since October 2023 has exceeded 70,365, while over 171,000 people have been injured and have sought medical assistance.
Al Arabiya reported last week, on December 5, citing sources, that the parties to the conflict in Gaza and mediators had reached an agreement on the first steps towards disarming Hamas, including the handing over of the group's heavy weapons. According to the television's sources, Hamas has also confirmed to the United States that it is ready to hand over control of the enclave as part of the peace process.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump planned to announce the start of the implementation of the second phase of his peace plan for Gaza before December 25. The second phase envisages the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the enclave and the deployment of an “international stabilization force”, as well as the launch of the enclave’s administration structures, including the Peace Boards.
