A 50-year-old Albanian woman has been hospitalized after being brutally stabbed by her ex-husband in the middle of the street on the Greek island of Thasos. The serious incident occurred as soon as the woman left a supermarket, when the 55-year-old stabbed her in the face and head, leaving her seriously injured.
The images of the aftermath of the attack are shocking, as the woman falls to the ground and the few citizens in the area rush to intervene to help her.
According to a witness, the perpetrator had traveled from Albania to the island and introduced himself to the residents as the victim's brother, thus learning her whereabouts. "After he went to the house, the frightened woman closed the doors, but he broke the window glass," the witness said.
The 55-year-old man was arrested by Greek police, and a knife and a screwdriver were seized from him. The victim is in hospital under medical care. Authorities are investigating the motives and circumstances of the incident.
