The European Commission has imposed a €120 million fine on the social network X, owned by billionaire Elon Musk, accusing the platform of violating transparency rules. The decision has drawn immediate reaction from the US, which has described the measure as an unfair blow to American technology.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio described the decision as "an attack on American companies and the American people," underlining that, according to him, this is part of a coordinated pressure by foreign governments.
The situation further escalated after the US published a new strategy on the same day, which in Brussels is seen as an attempt to weaken the European Union's position and increase NATO's role in the security balance.
