The widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, Erika Kirk, gave an emotional and moving speech, days after her husband was shot dead on a Utah college campus. She tearfully thanked the emergency responders who tried to save him, as well as the friends and associates who have been there for the family during this difficult time.
In a live broadcast from Turning Point USA headquarters in Arizona, where Charlie Kirk's empty chair was placed next to hers, Mrs. Kirk quoted passages from the Bible and spoke of her husband's love for his family, President Donald Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, and the United States.
Charlie Kirk, 31, was shot and killed Wednesday during an outdoor activity in Orem, Utah. The suspect in the killing, Tyler Robinson, surrendered and was arrested Thursday evening.
“My husband’s voice will remain,” Erika said, accompanying the speech with a silent and emotional prayer. She also thanked the US President and the Vance family for their support, while fondly remembering Charlie’s great love for the children and for her.
"But most of all, Charlie loved his children. And he loved me. With all his heart," she said in a broken voice.
Addressing the perpetrator and those who hate her husband's cause, she said: "You have no idea what a fire you have lit inside this woman... the cries of this widow will echo throughout the world like a battle cry."
Erika Kirk also announced that her husband's university tour will continue through the fall and into the coming years, as will his podcast.
At the end of her speech, she spoke painfully about their two children, a three-year-old girl and a one-year-old boy, to whom she tried to explain the absence of their father.
"Honey, Daddy loves you very much. Don't worry. He's on a business trip with Jesus," she emphasized telling their daughter.
According to reports, Mrs. Kirk and her children were present in the audience when the tragic event occurred. She is 36 years old and has vowed that her husband's legacy and mission will live on beyond his death.
