US President Donald Trump has declared that the end of the war between Russia and Ukraine is "very close", hinting that a peace deal could be close.
Asked about the prospects for ending the conflict, Trump said he strongly believes in an imminent resolution between the two countries. "The end of the war in Ukraine, I really think it's coming very close," he said, adding that the United States is working to help reach an agreement between Moscow and Kiev.
"Believe it or not, it's getting closer and we think we're going to reach a resolution between Russia and Ukraine," Trump stressed, also repeating his claim that he has helped resolve "eight wars" during his political career.
He was also asked if there was an understanding between him and Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding a possible peace deal that would give Russia full control over the Donbas region. Trump curtly denied the claim, replying: “No.”
His statements come at a time when international discussions on a possible solution to the war in Ukraine are intensifying, while the situation on the front still remains tense.
