Former Turkish Defense Minister and current chairman of the Defense Committee of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Hulusi made provocative statements.
In a post on X, Akar declared that "in the homeland of the Turkish Cypriots, those who dream of Easter... will live their last Easter."
At the same time, on April 2, he argued that the existence of two sovereign and equal states on the island constitutes, in his opinion, an inevitable development. The former Turkish minister's statements bring the discussion about the Cyprus problem back to the forefront, at a time when the issue remains particularly sensitive on a diplomatic and geopolitical level.
