The Special Court has set August 8, at 10:00, to review former President Ilir Meta's request for the replacement of the security measure.
Sources close to the case indicate that Meta has offered as an alternative a ban on leaving the country and the blocking of his passport, in order to be released from detention.
Meta has been under arrest since October 21, 2024. On Monday of this week, SPAK officially communicated the closure of the investigations and he is now expected to face court on charges of corruption, money laundering and concealment of assets.
In his request, Meta argues that with the conclusion of the investigation, there is no longer a risk of evidence being destroyed. This is the second time he has requested freedom through the replacement of security measures, following his sensational arrest last October.
